Hiking Mount Ijen From Bali

See the famous blue fire of Mt Ijen on an overnight trip from Bali.

Start from your hotel in Bali (Kuta, Nusa Dua, Sanur, or Ubud) between 10 and 11 am. Our staff will take you to the most western tip of Bali to reach Gilimanuk ferry port for about 6 hours by a private car with AC. Then, from Gilimanuk Harbour, we will take a ferry to cross the Bali Strait for about 1.5 hours to reach the Ketapang ferry port in Banyuwangi, at the most eastern tip of Java Island.

We will serve lunch before continuing to our homestay near the village. Then, at 01:00 AM (early morning), we will travel to the village of Licin with an English-speaking local guide and proceed to the slope of Mount Ijen, passing through plantations and rainforest.

This is one of the few remaining on the island of Java with giant ferns and plants and big trees; this journey takes approximately an hour from Banyuwangi city. We will arrive at the Mount Ijen parking area. It will take approximately 1 to 1.5 hours to ascend the slope of Mount Ijen and reach the peak of Ijen Crater, during which you will enjoy the blue fire along the path.

Rest on the edge of the crater at an altitude of 2883 meters and enjoy the best panorama of the lake of sulphate, which reflects a spectacular view of the surrounding walls and gives the impression of doom. The sulphur mining workers go down into the crater and climb back up by passing a dangerous path on the edge of Ijen Crater with a load of as much as 80 kilograms on their shoulders.

You will also enjoy the beautiful scenery in the crater of Ijen as one of God’s amazing creations. Don’t forget to take photos here to prove you visited one of the world’s best places.

After you enjoyed the natural scenery at the Crater of Ijen, you descended the slope of Mount Ijen to the vehicles’ parking area, where our vehicle is waiting to escort you to the local restaurant for breakfast.

Afterward, we will drive back to Bali Island using the same route. We will arrive at your Bali hotel in the afternoon.
